Unprecedented Wealth Surge in the U.S.: Over 379,000 New Millionaires in Just One Year
The UBS Global Wealth Report 2025 has revealed a dramatic rise in individual wealth in the United States over the past year. According to the Swiss wealth management giant, more than 379,000 Americans became millionaires, averaging over 1,000 new millionaires per day.
The report, released today and based on global data compiled by UBS—recognized as the world’s largest wealth manager—showed that global net wealth grew by 4.6% in 2024. However, the Americas stood out, with a growth rate exceeding 11%, fueled by strong equity markets and a resilient U.S. dollar.
The United States alone accounted for nearly 40% of the world’s millionaires, reinforcing its position as the epicenter of global wealth accumulation.
According to Reuters, which cited the report, regions such as Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) led the global wealth recovery in 2023, bouncing back from a decline the previous year.
In the category of individuals with net worths between $100,000 and $1 million, Greater China (including mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan) led with 28.2%, followed by Western Europe (25.4%), and North America (20.9%).
Despite these gains, the report underscores global wealth inequality. Over 80% of adults worldwide still have net worths below $100,000, while only 1.6% of the adult population qualifies as millionaires.
Looking ahead, UBS predicts that average per capita wealth will continue to rise over the next five years. The United States is expected to maintain its lead, although Greater China is forecast to follow with more moderate growth.
